She earned a microbiology degree at the University of Texas at Austin and her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at Baylor College of Dentistry in 2000, graduating at the top of her class. After three years of general dentistry in Seattle, she trained in pediatric dentistry at UCLA, where she served as chief resident.
